Local Lib Dem councillors have welcomed the final funding released to allow the 20mph zone in Coppice Woods to go ahead.
The release of £5800 of Ward Based Initiative funding by the Lib Dem councillors for the scheme will reinforce the pedestrian links outside the school and aims to encourage locals to walk to school rather than go by car.Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said:
“It is excellent news that we have secured this funding to help increase the safety for our local children.
“It is extremely important that we do everything we can to keep our kids safe”
Cllr Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) went on to say:
“Encouraging families to walk to and from school will also help set up exercise as a daily occurrence which can only be a good thing”
Cllr Sandy Lay (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) added:
“We all welcome this last element of funding for the zone and are now looking forward to seeing this scheme get off the ground.”
