Below is the email councillors received today with regards upcoming gas works for Silver Lane, Yeadon
——
Dear Councillors

I hope you are well.  I am writing to you today to make you aware of the proposed gas mains replacement works Northern Gas Networks are due to start in Silver Lane, Yeadon, Leeds.  As part of an upgrade to the gas infrastructure in Yeadon Town Centre, we will be carrying out essential gas works to replace ageing metal gas pipes.  The project is part of Northern Gas Network’s ongoing development of the infrastructure across the North of England and will involve replacing existing metallic gas main with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to our customers in the area for years to come.  We are responsible for distributing gas to homes and businesses and we will be starting essential work to renew gas mains and services in Ivegate and Silver Lane, Leeds.  Works are expected to start week commencing Monday 15th June 2015 and will take approximately 6 weeks to complete, which will be on or around 24th July 2015.
In order to carry out our works safely and efficiently it will be necessary to implement a number of temporary traffic management measures.  Please find more details below about how the works may affect you;

·         Works will be begin on the junction at Hawthorn Lane and Silver Lane where there will be 3 way traffic lights in situ.
·         Works will then progress onto Silver Lane and Ivegate where there will be 2 way traffic lights implemented- these will be in place for the full duration of the project.
·         Finally, there will be 3 way traffic lights on Hawthorn Avenue with the junction of Ivegate as works are undertaken in this area.

(There will be a bus and HGV diversion in place on Silver Lane diverting the traffic down Ivegate which is planned for approximately two weeks.  As works progress down Ivegate there will be a bus and HGV diversion planned for approximately 3 weeks).

Please be assured whilst our works are in progress shops and businesses will remain open as usual and pedestrian footpaths will also be maintained.  We have a Customer Care Officer assigned to this project who has visited the site and spoken to the local businesses and residents to advise them of these works.  In addition we have liaised with the local bus company so that they are aware of these works.  Moreover, in advance of the works starting the affected residents will receive a notification letter from Northern Gas Networks advising them of the works which will be undertaken and will explain how they may be disrupted.  The letter will be issued ten days in advance of the works starting.  The letter will ensure the residents receive as much information as possible and will also give the residents our direct contact details if they would like to find out additional information from us.

Whilst we will do everything we can to minimise the disruption, we do appreciate the impact of our work and will be hosting a public information session on, Thursday 11th June 2015, 4.30 to 6.30pm at Yeadon Methodist Church.  At the session there will be NGN representatives available to answer your queries and provide more detailed information about the work that will take place.

I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding.  The Customer Care Team will be available to assist with any issues you may have throughout the essential work.  Northern Gas Networks’ Customer Care Team are available between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 5pm on Saturdays.  They can be contacted via telephone on 0800 040 7766, selecting option 7 or by e-mail; customercare@northerngas.co.uk

Alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of any further assistance or if you would like any additional information.

In the meantime I do hope you have found this helpful, but if you have any concerns or would like to discuss the works further, please do not hesitate to contact me.
